I call it reverse contrast when the contrast is created by having the subject subdued on a much livelier background. This photo is an extreme demonstration of this technique.

The problem with this technique is the high dynamic range needed. The trick is not letting the highlights blow, yet keeping enough detail in the shadows to recover in post processing. Shoot RAW, ofcourse.

Geotagging is a whole new interesting area, though still a bit painful until builtin gps becomes a standard feature on DSLRs.
Now I use a PocketPC running BeelineGPS and add waypoints when taking shots and enter the info manually, after trying a couple of options for auto synchronizing the track data and the shots and failing miserably
.
I’ll keep trying and when I have a simple failproof workflow will share…
